Arrecife to La Palma - Washup

Current Date: 7th February 2020.
Current Location: La Palma Marina, Canaries.
Blogger: John

La Palma. The most north westerly of the Canaries. The Beautiful Island. The steepest island in the world. The volcano that could create a tidal wave that submerges New York. The wettest Canary. The purest water because it rains 5 times as much as in Lanzarote.

Just a short one tonight - we're fairly tired after two nights at sea. But it's been an excellent shakedown exercise. We all seem to get on OK, watches are working well and M has behaved herself in pretty benign conditions. 220 miles done, 2,600 to go. Destination Martinique.

Mariel's contacts got us marina publicity with the marina owner.

Crew in their smart Mehalah shirts.

First evening dolphin watching.

Sunset off Fuertaventura.

The skipper at ease on a flat sea.

The plan now is to hire a car for a couple of days, then a final stock up and leave on Tuesday. The new sat phone communications seem to be working well so with a bit of luck blogs will continue.

OK, sleep calls, uninterrupted by close encounters with large cruise ships, sinking fishing boat mayday calls or pan pan calls from Tenerife radio.
