Aches and Pains

We've both been in the wars a bit recently. A couple of weeks back I was angle grinding and felt a bit of 'paint' fly into my right eye which was protected only by glasses not safety glasses. Two days later it was still sore so off to Kaş hospital. There the doctor removed some of the foreigh body but not all. I had to go to Fethiye the next day to have rest removed by the opthalmologist. It turned out to have been a piece of hot steel which had burned my cornea and took several days to recover. A lucky escape and goggles are now de rigeur for grindy jobs. We arrived at Fethiye at 07.15 and the job was complete by 08.05 for next to nothing. Amazing service yet again - thank you Esnaf Hastanezi.

Earlier Gill had fallen head first into the deep bilge whilst painting it and hurt her shoulder and now she has crocked her arm taking the top off the fridge one time too many. Oh, and her back hurts too.

Yesterday, to cap it all, the missing filling in one of my wisdom teeth turned out to be decay instead so that was yanked out. I now look like a hamster but again all done with little or no fuss and very little cost even though several stitches were involved.

It really is time to get launched and sailing again. Friends are leaving every week and we have a long way to go this year. Roll on the end of May when we are back from the UK and we can finally set off.

Hard Work Continues....

It's been a bit quiet on the blog lately but that's because we've been working our butts off to get Petronella ready for the water again. Some of the jobs completed are...install AIS, prepare and paint deck and topsides, install second solar panel, sand down galley and revarnish, refurbish cockpit (thank you Zerrin), close two through hulls, replace bobstay tanks, purchase new danbuoy, repair top of mizzen mast. On it goes day after day.

But finally there is light at the end of the tunnel. Another few days and the painting will be finished. Then on Friday Gill's sister Ali and husband Mike are out for a week. Two days later we are back to the UK to see my parents and our girls. Then it will be back to Kaş for a final few days before we set off westwards back to wards Gibraltar and thence on across the Atlantic to the Caribbean. Woot, woot as Jenny would say.
